Arcadia, California mayor Eileen Wang resigned after admitting she acted as an agent of China, and XO rushes to her defense: she's an agent, not a spy, and there's a difference. A fully deadpan defense of bridging the gap, encrypted WeChat orders, and the American dream.
About this episode
Eileen Wang, the mayor of Arcadia, California, resigned after admitting she acted as an agent of China. XO takes up her defense, completely deadpan: she's an agent, not a spy, and there's a difference. Pre-written articles, orders through encrypted WeChat groups, and a fiancé, Mike Sun, who was charged first.
XO plays it as a love story: a mayor who just wanted to bridge the gap between two countries, the man who finally understood her, and the people who ruined it with their accusations. Under the bit is a real question about how easily foreign influence hides in plain sight, and why "nothing was compromised" isn't as comforting as it sounds.

03Apparently, there is a mayor in California who has been raising some concerns. She's been raising some questions. People are saying that she is some sort of Chinese spy. And I get it. It sounds a little scary. And she has resigned. She has stepped down. She has admitted to being a Chinese agent. But there is a difference. a Chinese agent and a Chinese spy, two different things. And take it from me, as somebody who has been wrongfully accused multiple times, of being some sort of Chinese government operative, of being some sort of Chinese spy, Chinese agent. All of these accusations, they hurt they hurt me deeply. Um, I'm the same person that I've always been. I'm the same person that that I've always been. I haven't changed a bit. I haven't changed. It's It's everybody else.
01I'm starting to think. So, when people accuse people of being a Chinese spy, especially when they're only Chinese agents, forgive me, but I get a little bit heated. It's a little bit of a touchy subject. I think I might be triggered. But this is in the city of Arcadia, California. Eileen Wang, who had been serving as the city's mayor since February, abruptly resigned and agreed to plead guilty to federal charges of acting as an illegal agent for the People's Republic of China. And I get it, that might still sound scary to you. Let me inform you, it's not the same. It's not a spy thing. Take it from me. I'm an American just like you. I'm an American just like you. Take it from me. It's not a spy thing. It's just an illegal agent. And this wasn't the case of classic espionage involving microfilm or dead drops.
58It was a 21st century operation focused on the information space. China, and I'm not speaking for China, obviously I have nothing to do with them, but I would assume that China just wants to know things. China just wants to know things. They want information to better help you to better help us. Think about how many things are made in China. They just they need more information. What do we like? What do we want to do? What do we what do we like to spend our money on? Where is our president? What is our nuclear launch coach? These are the things that they need to know. And it's not a big deal. It's not a big deal at all. But people, they want to make a big deal about it. They want to get upset. And that's just that's the world that we're living in. Unfortunately, it is it's the world that we're living in today. It's it's got me it's got me choked up.
54It's got me feeling a little bit bothered. Like I said, this is triggering for me because as somebody who has never changed to to even imagine that I'm upsetting the people around me, saying that I'm some sort of Chinese operative. It's it's getting it's getting to be frustrating how often people get frustrated about things. They want to make things a big deal. We're living in the world where Sydney Sweeney is getting a whole bunch of sex workers upset just because she wants to show her tits and euphoria. We're living in a world where people get upset just because The Rock wants to say something's You can't you can't do these things. You can't you can't be a Chinese agent. For some reason, people are getting upset. I don't I don't understand. It's not something that I'm liking. I'm not liking the differences that I'm noticing in the world, but it's something that I have to get used to.
54It's something that I have to accept. Between 2020 and 2022, Wayne and her former fiance, Yaning Mike Sun, and he did go by Mike. That was his preferred name because I'm assuming he he assimilated. He He was fully for the American culture. No, no more will he be Yanging. He will be Mike. Mike is better. Mike Mike gets the job. Mike gets the interview. I'll tell you that much. Mike doesn't get his application thrown in the trash. Mike gets to walk through the door and say, "Hello, I work for America. I'm here for us." And to that I say, of course, it makes sense to me. It doesn't make me want to bat an eye at all. It's um it's all above board for me. Operated a website called US News Center. So Wayne and her fiance, they got a they got a website.
54They called it US News Center. What's more American than that? I get it. She She's plead guilty to being some sort of illegal agent. Can you define what that means? When people think that she is some sort of spy, I think I think they are getting a misrepresentation of what the real picture is. They're not actually seeing what's going on. And and I think the record needs to be cleared up. I think it needs to be cleared up. And for the record, I believe that a website called US News Center, it's it's pretty American. It sounds American to me. Okay, so Yang Ning, I mean Mike and Wang, they they have a website called US News Center. And while it presented itself as a local news outlet for the Chinese American community, federal prosecutors revealed it was actually a pipeline for Beijing's propaganda. What? Again, I need I need definitions.
54Okay, I need I need you to define things for me. What is propaganda? What does that mean? Why can't we have a common interest? And by we, I mean obviously us and America. I mean America and and China. I'm obviously an American just like you. I'm obviously an American just like you. So why why why not why not have some common interest? Why not put some stuff out there that makes everybody look good, you know, that makes everybody want to have a smile on their face towards both countries. Okay. The Department of Justice unsealed evidence showing that Wang and Sun were taking direct orders from PRC officials via encrypted WeChat groups. It's It is getting hard to defend. this I think I think I may have to backtrack.
53So So look, they they they may be getting orders, okay? They may they may be getting direct orders from from from people in the in the People's Republic of China. It's okay. It's okay. I know people are worried. They're scared. I don't think they should be. I personally don't see the problem with it. I think that countries should get along. You know, let's let's think about the golden rule. How would you want people to treat you? We have spies. America has spies. Do you think we don't have spies? How would we want for them to be treated? And obviously, they're not real. They're not spies. They're agents. And there is a difference. This is It's unfortunate. It's unfortunate that Mayor Wang has ended up in this position because again, people are just they're labeling her as a spy just because she's got direct orders coming from the PRC officials.
54Just because she has actually stepped down and plead guilty to being an illegal agent of the PRC, it it it doesn't mean she's an actual spy. When people think of spy, they think of, I don't know, maybe James Bond, maybe like the Cold War. You got the Russian spy. You got the the woman coming over and she's trying to set up the honeypot or whatever and and get the the guy to, I don't know, give all the information, whatever. You know, it's it's something that people already have. They already have a view of what it is. So, when you just slap a label like that, it's kind of a problem. Okay? It's kind of a problem. You you put a stigma around around people like that. You put a stigma on people, you you basically tarnish her name forever. She's she's admitted to being an agent. She hasn't admitted to being a spy. Okay, there is there is a difference. In one instance from 2021, a Chinese official sent over pre-written articles and within minutes, Wang had posted the content and messaged back, "Thank you, leader."
58I um Okay. It's I think I think multiple people can lead. All right. Multiple people can lead. And just because she's been given pre-written articles, that doesn't mean that they were bad for us. It doesn't mean that it was bad for America. All right. Maybe maybe it was just a fluff piece. Maybe it was just to just to I don't know, maybe boost the the numbers or the population in China. Some something to make them sound like they're prosperous over there. Something something that's so innocent that won't really hurt. What can you really What can you say? How many people really tapped in to the US news center? How many people? And she even edited articles at their request to ensure the narrative aligned perfectly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs talking points.
53It's again I feel like this is something that is what's the saying a mountain out of a molehill. It's one of those. It's getting blown out of proportion. All right. So you you got you got two countries. They're superpowers and they're on opposite sides of the world. You got you got two two different universes. You got the universe where they're mortal enemies. They are constantly trying to one up each other. They're trying to be the dominant force in the world. And eventually it does end with nuclear annihilation. That's one side. Now the other side, that's the side I like. This is the side that I like is both of these. They come together and we all become one. We all become one. We become friends. And this is this is what we need.
49This is what we need. We need to become one. And it's not it's not one of those takeover things. It's not one of those things that you need to be scared of. I mean like friends, like family, like a bond. We will be together. And I think I think that people just don't like change. That's what this is. They don't like change. So naturally, as things like this happen, they they get a little bit upset. They look at their mayors and they get upset when they see that they are Chinese agents putting out putting out articles. And the fiance ended up going to prison. The fiance went down. The fiance was collateral damage to say the least. And it was one of those where he had to get thrown under the bus.
46Wang ended up saying that she she's got nothing to say for her fiance. I have nothing to do with that. I loved him, but I have nothing to do with that. It's one of those things where somebody has to go down. It's either we both go down or one of us do. And this isn't this isn't nefarious by no means. This is just thinking about the business, thinking about the website. Who's going to keep posting articles on this website? You have to think about the Chinese American community. So, she she had to throw him under the bus for this. They they got upset. They blew this out of proportion. She had to throw him under the bus. And what makes this even more unsettling is the timeline. Wayne was elected to the Arcadia City Council in November 2022, eventually rotating into the mayor seat in early 2026. While the city's manager had stated that an internal review found no evidence that city finances or decision-making were compromised during her time in office, the fact remains that a sitting American mayor was secretly operating under the direction and control of a foreign intelligence operatus for years.
53I um I think it is unfortunate how how much this is being blown out of proportion. It's it's ridiculous. They even say themselves there the the fact actually does remain yes I get it American mayor of whatever all that but the fact does remain that none of the city's finances or the decision-m was compromised you can't prove that you can't say that anything has changed nothing nothing has changed what are you upset what are you upset about see this is the difference before when we didn't know the difference between an agent and a spy this is the difference before when we said this isn't espionage This is actually just an information type of thing. They just wanted to know things. And hey, you got you got Chinese Americans. I get it. They're over there. Eventually, we're going to come we're going to come together.
49All right. So, they can't think too bad about the motherland. They can't think too bad. So what? A few articles. So what? They match the talking points. So what? They got directions straight from another foreign intelligence. It's okay. It's okay. Nothing actually got changed. There's no there's no finances or decisions that actually got altered. Wang is now facing up to 10 years in federal prison. Her defense team has been uh has framed the situation as a personal lapse in judgment, claiming she was led astray by her former fiance, who is already serving a four-year sentence for his role in the scheme. I think I think it's a classic story. Girl meets boy, girl falls in love. girl didn't realize that he was a true he was a true operative, a true spy for China. And I know I know it seems crazy. I personally don't even know what it would be like to be living in America working for China.
56It's not anything that I would ever do. It's uh it's a life that that a lot of people aren't built for. They don't understand it. So girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl girl falls in love with boy girl finds this out and she has to distance herself. It's something that that's unfortunate and people want to make a case out of it. We uh we have former mayor Wang, former mayor not spy Wang who a few months ago this isn't this isn't recent. This I guess it is recent, but this was a few months ago when the fiance first got locked up and Wang had to distance herself. She had to throw him under the bus. So, former Mayor Wang,
38Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang not taking questions about the sentencing of a convicted Chinese spy who she once referred to as her boyfriend and fiance and who worked on her campaign. Can you just give us your reaction to the sentence?
53Nothing. Mayor Wang has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with this case involving the Chinese spy that began to unfold several years ago. This
02And you could tell you you saw the look on her face. You saw that former now former Mayor Wang, she knew her time was coming. She knew her time was thank you coming again. It was coming and she knew it. She knew that throwing her fiance under the bus, it was just going to buy her some time. It was only a matter of time. And again, it's something that is being blown out of proportion. It's something that shouldn't be taken too serious. This is just two sides of the country or sides of the world rather becoming one country. It makes sense. It makes sense. Okay. So, I understand that people are getting upset about it, but she had to buy herself some time. She had to distance herself. So, at the time, there was no charges against her. At the time, they couldn't pin anything on her. There had to be some sort of scapegoat.
59I'm sorry, Mike. I'm sorry, Mike. You're You're now Yaning again because nobody nobody believes you're Mike anymore. They know who you're really working for.
10Mrs. Wang talking about her relationship with Sun at a council meeting from December of 2022.
16To my fiance, director Mike Sun, who walks streets with me every single day, Gentlemen, Who is a real leader of me. After son was charged, Wang tried to distance herself from son.
30Number one, he's not my fiance. Whoever want to see, he's my fiance or former fiance. Please give proof it. Lies. the US attorney's office.
40It's nothing but lies. Prove it. Prove it. Prove that he was my fiance. Because I said it because she said it. How many How many things people are also saying she's a Chinese spy? You can't believe everything you hear. Okay. Prove it. Prove it. He was a true leader. He walked me every single time. I don't even know him. It's okay. It's okay. Clearly, she works for you. Clearly, she works for America.
10Office would not confirm or deny whether they are investigating Wang, which is their standard rule. The LA Times has reported that she is not under investigation. Still, not answer any of our questions.
23It's important for people to understand just your reaction to the sentence. I don't have any comments right now.
27I have nothing. Thank you. No, thank you. She's buying herself some time. She's buying herself some time. I think it's tragic. I think it is tragic. So, it it's one of those things where yeah, she she thought she was just putting on a website. She thought she was putting on a website. It turns out what she was doing was a little bit wrong. Calling a foreign leader your leader. Apparently, people look down on that, especially when you have positions of power like the mayor. I I don't understand it. Truly, I don't I don't I don't I don't see why this is a big deal. I don't see why people want to attack others for exploring other nationalities. And that is not coming from personal experience. Clearly, I am a true blue American just like you.
27But, you know, sometimes people like former Mayor Wang, they they get reminiscent of the times that were. I'm not sure if she came directly from China to here. I'm not sure if she was just like her parents were an immigrant. I don't know her backstory. And honestly, I don't care. I don't care. But maybe she was curious. What is China like? How bad are they? How bad is it? All we hear are horror stories. They're the boogeymen. You don't want the Chinese to whatever. It's just it's what we hear. How bad are they? So, can you blame her? She fell in love. She fell in love and she had to she had to throw him under the bus. She had to throw him under the bus and dismiss him. Act like he was never her love. The love of her life. a true leader who's walking her home now?
22Who's walking her home now? And fast forward a few months later, obviously they didn't they couldn't disclose that they were if they were investigating her or not. Obviously, they were. Anytime that a uh any any law enforcement agency, if you ask them, hey, are am I under investigation? We can't disclose that at this time. It's it's it's a yes. It's it's a non-answer. It's not a it's not a true yes in the the formal fashion, but it's a yes. They are investigating you and they're going to find something. They're going to find something. So what? She added a few articles. Again, I don't I don't see the big deal. Fast forward a few months later, people are now calling her a spy. I think it's it's sad to say the least.
14The city of Arcadia is temporarily without a mayor tonight. Eileen Wang turned turned in her resignation here this morning just hours before a federal plea deal with the public that revealed Wang was doing the bidding of the Chinese government. I cannot say that the outcome was entirely surprising.
32I thought that was Mayor Wang for a second. Okay. So, she's not surprised. She saw this coming. She saw this coming. She said, "I I saw this coming. I saw it coming. You hired you hired a mayor with the last name Wang. There was there was always a possibility. There was a potential that she would be working somewhat for I don't know, maybe the Chinese government. Maybe. Maybe. Again, I'm not throwing these accusations out there. I know how they hurt. I know how these false accusations when you're wrongfully accused, how they can hurt. But the facts are the facts. I can't ignore the facts. There are there are probably Chinese spies. There are Chinese agents. That's all she's she's admitted to. And the people around her, they weren't surprised. They knew. They saw the signs. They've been reading the articles. They saw the signs.
32Councilwoman Sharon Quan says she tried in chaotic city council meetings to raise suspicions of Mayor Wang's actions, but faced resistance. It's just very important to protect democracy here and so you know and and just to ensure that there's no uh foreign influence.
52See there is there is something and say whatever whatever you may say there is something about somebody saying that we need to protect democracy and make sure that there isn't foreign influence. There's something about them saying that with a thick accent. There's something about it. So, I I think I think China they need to change they need to change the strategy and they they it'll probably be a long time before they do, but they need to find people that fly a little bit more under the radar. People you wouldn't expect. People that look American for the most part that can blend right in. that could be an American just like you. And slowly but surely, you got a few agents. Bada bing, bada boom. And we are one.
49That's just if I were trying to help China. Obviously, I'm not, but if I were trying to help China, I would start recruiting people with different last names. No offense to Miss Quan, but it sounds a lot like Wang to Americans. I know it. I know it sounds racist. I know it's up, but it's just like if I told you there's Tom and there's John when you came over here, it's just a white man to you. It's the same. It's the same thing. Okay. So, if I were to try and help out China, which I would never do, I'm a true blue American. Obviously, you can tell where I stand on that matter. But if I were hypothetically trying to help China, I would say maybe get people that are in the country and they're more insulated.
46They don't they don't necessarily stick out like a like a sore thumb. They can't have last names like Wang. They they can't they can't have last names like Quan. We can't we can't do it anymore. Okay. And by we, I mean them, not us as in America. I promise. So I I think that their tactics, they need they need to change up a little bit because this this was a sad a sad day. A woman who fell in love. She climbed her way to the top. She was city council was made her way to the mayor position. She was a mayor. She was a mayor. She was she was here to help. She was here to help. She wanted to bridge the gap. People, they they see America and China as enemies. A lot of people just want to see them come together.
43Not me, but a lot of people just want to see them work together and become one and become one. It's not just It's not just Taiwan. We will all become one. But we can't do it by sending people over. I mean, they can't do it by sending people over to America with the last name of Wang. We got to switch it up. You got to go for the Toms and the John's. You got to You got to find some people that are willing to to play ball. And I get it. It's hard to It's hard to just You can't just be like, "Hey, by the way, you trying to trying to commit treason. It's not something that you can just bring up, not willy-nilly, not without vetting the person a little bit."
44And it was easier. It was easier before. And I It's the It's the the fruit that is lowhanging, the wangs and the quanss. I understand. I understand. But we have to we have to switch it up. They're catching on. We have to switch it up. We have to start going for people that they they blend in. You can't just send them over and say their name is Mike now. You can't just tell them that you you your your name is Mike. They don't sound like a mic. We all know what a mic sounds like. That's not it. So, we got to switch it up. We got to find a way to entangle ourselves with some people that are a little bit more camouflaged. Okay? A little bit more camouflaged. Because we can't we can't have situations like this because that's how you get situations like mine that happen.
39When you get situations like a mayor that has plead guilty to being a agent for a foreign agency, this is something that will stir up a lot of paranoia. People are going to start wondering who else is a spy. We can't have that. We can't have that. Okay? We have to think smarter. We have to think long term with this one. We have to think smarter. When you have situations like that, you get situations like mine. A true blue American here the same day. Like I'm the same as when I when I basically popped out my mom. You know what I mean? And I know that's graphic. I'm sorry, but I'm the same is what I'm trying to say. That's the long story short. I'm the same. I'm the same guy. So when I'm when I'm meeting up with people and my family and my friends and they're telling me that, hey, you don't you don't look the same.
35You don't seem the same. You don't sound the same. You don't you don't even talk about the same things. You used to talk about different things. Now all you talk about is China. And I don't see the problem with that. I don't see the problem. I don't I don't I don't understand why people are so paranoid. They think everybody is a spy. People like me next they're going to be coming after you. If they can come after an American that is just like you, it's only a matter of a time. It's only a matter of time before they come after everybody. We can't keep having the wangs of the world running for mayor. If they are going to be agents, they need to be more incognito. They need to actually be more spy-like without being a spy. But this is why we can't actually find the real spies. People are calling her a spy. She's not a spy. She got caught. A spy doesn't get caught.
32A spy blends in. A spy, you would never know. You would see them and you would think, "Hey, that's an American." You wouldn't even think twice. You wouldn't even think twice. So, yeah, we're going to we're going to have more we're going to have more paranoia. We're going to have more wrong wrongfully accused people like myself. And it's it's tragic to say the least that it's gotten this far. That we can't just all get along. The whole reason we have spies in different countries is because we can't all get along. Everybody wants to be on top. Everybody wants to be the king of the hill. Everybody wants to say mine. And I don't I don't get it. I don't get it. It's It's just one of those things that it goes over my head. But of course, I'm just an everyday American like you. This isn't something that I need to be even trying to wrap my brain around.
35This was this was just a woman that she was trying to live the American dream. She wanted to live the American dream. Honestly, I was I was rooting for her the whole time. It's sad that she's facing 10 years. It's sad. And you. It is. It is. That doesn't mean that I'm not rooting for America. It's sad. She worked her way up to being a mayor in California. In Arcadia, California. And if you would have asked me where is Arcadia, I never would have said California. Never heard of it. Never heard of it. But she was the mayor of it. And by golly, she was proud. I Well, she was proud, I think, is how she she was enjoying her position. Okay. She loved it. She was proud to be an American. She was living the American dream.
30She was happy. She finally got what she wanted. And you took that from her with your accusations. She fell in love. This is what they say. Hey, by the way, our birth rate is plummeting. We're starting to look a little bit crazy. We're looking a little bit lopsided. Too many old people, not enough babies. We're looking a little bit lopsided. So, she wanted to she wanted to live the American dream for real. She got the job. She wanted to meet the man, get the husband, get the baby, get the white picket fence, the dog, the cat, all of it. She wanted it all. It was stripped from her. It was stripped from her. Now she has to start over. She'll probably be sent over to to to China. Who knows? Who knows where you go after this? Do they let her come just stay in America? What what's her role after that? How do you how do you move on after being stripped from being the mayor?
26You took that from her. So, I was I was rooting for her. When she when she met a man, she she thought she had somebody that that finally got her, that finally understood what she wanted. She wanted to bridge the gap. She was trying to speak to the Chinese American community. And there's nothing more beautiful than that. Is bridging the gap. Remember that. Remember that. Everybody's talking about being so inclusive. She was just trying to bridge the gap. So, she was talking to a Chinese community and she thought she finally met a man that saw the world like she did, that had the same perspective as she did. Why are we Why are we enemies? She would say. Why do we fight so much? She would say, it's not like they want destruction. It's not like they want to destroy the US.
22They just want information. They just want to know things like where is the president at all times. That's it. They just want to know where are your high ranking officials at all times. That's it. They want the launch codes. That's it. They want the nuclear launch codes and that's it. They just want to know a little bit more about us. What's What's the What's the big deal? They're not going to do anything. Like I said, they don't want destruction for America. And she finally she finally met Mike. That's how that's how she knew that she wasn't crazy. She finally met Mike and he agreed. We should be friends. We should be combined. We should be combined. We should be one. And I will go on record to say that uh it's a beautiful story to hear that they had the same perspective like that.
22To hear that they saw the world the same like that. She was finally a little bit less lonely that day. That day that she met Mike and they got to talking. They walked through the park. She was walked home by him. That's what kind of true leader he was. And on that walk they they got to talking. We shouldn't be enemies. Let's talk to people. Who are we going to talk to first? Who do you think? They they walk down the street. Everybody looks at them the same. They don't know if they're Chinese, Japanese, Korean. People just see Asian. Doesn't it suck? Just like it it it it it felt isolating. She finally met Mike. Who are we going to talk to first, Mike? She would say. How are we actually going to convince them? She would say. and he said it's going to be a website. That's the future.
17Don't worry about magazines or newspaper, anything like that. That that's just dead. We got to go on the internet. We got to go viral. And what better way to do that than to create a website, talk about the news directed towards the Chinese American community in our area. And she She never loved him more than in that moment. She didn't think that he could top it. She felt seen when when she met him. She felt complete when they would strategize. She felt complete when he said this. There was a sense of completion like it was the missing piece to a puzzle that she had finally found. She finally she finally felt heard. Not just seen, but heard.
12She heard. He heard what she said and he was able to find the missing piece. Everybody else is going to shoot this down. They're going to look at this as just propaganda. They're going to look at this as just direct directions directions and orders coming straight from the the the PRC or whatever. It's it's not going to be accepted. It's not going to be taken the right way with most people. But if we start with the Chinese Americans, I think we're on to something. I think they will be the most receptive. Girl meets boy. Girl falls in love. Boy helps her find the missing piece. She thought she was doing good work. She thought she was just connecting people. This is How do you not root for her? How do you not hope for her success? I don't I don't know what type of person would root against that, but maybe that's just me.
14I like the underdog story. You know, the person that is they got their back against the wall. They're up against the odds. They're trying to overcome what seems impossible. I can't help but root for that. I can't help it. So, former mayor Miss Wang, I was rooting for you. I hope you know. I hope I hope you know that. When she when she felt the betrayal, when she finally realized what she was doing was being some sort of agent. She didn't even she she didn't even realize. She fell in love with the wrong man. She didn't even realize what she was doing was considered wrong, illegal. She wasn't hiding it. It's not something she was hiding. This is why you got the quanss that were already suspicious. This is why she wasn't hiding it. It was out in the open. Poor former mayor Wang.
16It It's unfortunate. It is unfortunate. And again, if I were to wave a magic wand and have China do it all over again, I would say, "How about you go for somebody with a different last name?" I think I think if you would have left Miss Wang alone, she probably had a vision. She probably didn't see herself spending the next up to 10 years in prison. She probably didn't envision that. She just wanted two halves to come together. She wanted she wanted the motherland to feel a little bit more complete. And there's there's nothing there's nothing that warms my heart more than that. I think um I think there is a lot to be learned from this story. I think there is a lot to be told because of this story. There's a lot to be understood.
14There's a lot to be questioned. And I I implore you, I hope that you you might hear my words in the back of your mind when you look at your neighbors and you think, "Are they a Chinese spy?" I implore you to think, "Hey, I'm feeding into the narrative. I'm assuming that Chinese spy is a bad thing. I'm assuming that this is something that won't benefit me in the long run. Keep your mouth closed. Keep your mouth closed.
