Do ghosts really exist?

Episode 5 · May 26, 2025 · 1 hr 15 min

Are ghosts real? XO tells real stories: visiting a supposedly haunted house, a homemade cardboard Ouija board, and a night with a girlfriend that still doesn't make sense, while asking how much of what we believe about the afterlife comes from horror movies.

About this episode

Are ghosts real? XO starts with the oldest question, what happens after we die, and the childhood habit of testing things for yourself (like catching your parents playing Santa), then tells real stories from trips to a supposedly haunted house, from the heavy feeling in the air to running out of the basement.

Then the cardboard Ouija board XO and a girlfriend made by the book, what they saw, and a night with her that XO still can't explain. Plus kids who remember past lives, and how much of what we believe about the afterlife comes from horror movies.

0:00One of life's oldest existential question is what happens after we die? And I guess less self-focused, are ghosts real? Are there spirits that walk amongst us that are trapped in between wherever we go after we die and the real world or what we think is the real world? Are ghosts real? Are we just making it up? Are we just a whole bunch of lunatics? Because what if I told you that I've seen a ghost or what I think is a ghost, right? Because what is a ghost? You know, we typically think of them as, you know, they're not demons. They're like people that have died and they have haven't been able to move on, I guess, is what you see in a lot of shows where they haven't gone to heaven or hell. They're in some sort of in between world that you know you're not able to escape in like some sort of time loop.

1:00That sounds like an awful way to have your consciousness spend eternity. But whatever it is, because we like to put a label on it. A lot of people are like, "Okay, you say ghosts, what if it's aliens? You say ghosts, what if it's just people in other dimensions and we're not able to see these different dimensions that exist because our bodies ordinarily able to focus and perceive the things that are right in front of us. All right. Well, whatever the hell you want to call it, I saw some And you probably would be like, "Oh, whatever. Some bullshit." And sometimes sometimes there's things that happen in your life that you just got to be okay with the fact that if you ever do decide to tell your story, a lot of people will just think it's Oh, there's there's something explainable there.

2:01There's some way to scientifically prove what you saw is just a coincidence of nature. Maybe maybe it's because you're a pthead little teenager. You don't know what the you saw. You druggie. You're over here snoring your derbs and going off to to Neptune, man. No, I don't want any part of this conversation. You're a quack. A looney tune. A zing zang. Yeah, there's a lot of different things that people can point at. When you have a story that isn't able to be proven, that seems like it wouldn't happen, that seems like, man, you must have been on something.

3:05What you on, bro? Cuz I want some of that good And you just kind of have to live with that. Those are that's your it becomes like your story. You feel me? Like you're the only one that truly gets to feel the effect of that. And some people, it'll drive them crazy, man. Like, nobody believes me. Nobody thinks that this insane, unbelievable story is true. And it's like, okay, that's all right. It uh it's honestly a rational thing for you to kind of scoff at, to raise your eyebrows at. You know, you can't blame people for wanting to live in the rational world. Cuz are ghosts real? Is there a chance that after this life that I might be stuck in some sort of hell?

4:04That isn't hell. It's really just me seeing the world continue to move on without me. Because you, me, and everybody else when we die, the world's going to keep spinning. and everybody's going to forget about you. Of course, you uh you're going to be remembered by like if you have parents or kids or brothers and sisters, but then you know they'll end up getting older and have their own kids and they'll end up dying and then their kids will end up having kids and then they'll the kids will end up dying, the first generation of kids, you feel me? And eventually you'll just be some distant memory. Maybe maybe you made a photo album. You made it in the photo album. You know, oh that's your great great grandpa or grandma. They were a great person. Oh, wow. How many generations until you're just nothing?

5:02And they might be like, "Wow, that's a that's a long time. At least I mean something in the meantime." Of course, this isn't some sort of cynical nothing. There's no meaning. Say anything. just, you know, whatever this is existing. It's not even life. No, that. Of course, there's meaning to your direct surroundings. If anything, I feel like it's uplifting to think that after a few generations, I'll mean nothing. for the most part, everything like unless unless you're somebody that makes some groundbreaking, you know, advancement like being able to have the light bulb or creating cars or AI, whatever the it is. You're doing some groundbreaking thing. Yeah, you're going to you're going to live on it a little bit longer. But then how long is it until somebody's like, uh, like, who invented the wheel?

6:03Do you know who's the caveman that we can site for that? That was that genius that said, "Hey, this stone is circular." And it's of course this isn't in actual language that we would understand. It's just like and they just might have just that just like fell down a hill or some and it was like holy Who knows how the process happened? They weren't even able to document it. You know what I mean? So, how long until even the light bulb? Like, who who created light? Wait, created created light? What do you mean? Isn't light always been a thing? Energy has always been a thing. Haven't we always had this? I don't know, man. Maybe back in the early 1900s or some Whoa. And then eventually some people are going to look at that like how we look at caveman like, yeah, like caveman days. Whoa. Back when they made the wheel.

7:04So everything gets forgotten with time. Even great inventions, at least the inventor, the invention might continue to live on. Obviously, we still have wheels today. They've been improved upon and everything like that. So the invention doesn't disappear, but the inventor does. No matter how great you are, the most famous person in 1925, I don't know who that is. Or was rather I don't know who that was. Do you? We'd have to We have to Google. In fact, it. We're going to Google this We are going to Google this cuz you know that is one of the best things about living nowadays that if you want to you can just uh we having technical difficulties. If you want to you could really just learn anything. So right now 2025 it's I mean you'd have to kind of argue trying to trying to think of who who is the most famous person.

8:09That is crazy. This is really bugging right now. Okay. I was like bro what's going on? You'd have to argue right now who who the most famous person is or whatever because there's so many different famous people. But in 2125 who they're going to be like who? So most famous person in 1925. It's difficult to pinpoint one single most famous person in 1925 as famous objective and blah blah blah blah. The first name that I see however because at the end of the day somebody's got to be at the top of the list, right? We got George Bernard Shaw. You don't know. You don't know who George. Little George. All right. All right, I got another one for you just in case you don't know who that is. We got Richard Sig Monday. G Z S I G M O N D Y. That's the last name.

9:06Do you know Richard? Little Dicky. Richard? You don't know Richard? Okay. Okay. I mean, what about Sir Austin Chamberlain? Sir Austin? You don't know Sir Austin? I think I made my point. I rest my case, your honor. We really don't matter as much as we think we do. And some people will take that information like, "Oh my god, this means nothing." And some people will let that uplift them as like a pressure that's that's off. Like, okay. And I don't know, maybe some people are drawn or driven rather by that that need to make a mark, make a legacy. So I don't know. I feel like I so for the most part of my life was driven by that same part.

10:06Like you know what I mean? That competitive edge like when you play basketball, you want to be the best. When you when you do any sport, you want to be the best at it. You want to practice at it. When you start doing music, you want to practice and get your songs to be the best. I want to be the best. It's all about making a legacy, being the best, a legend, successful success. When you think of whatever you do, fill in the blank, you think of me. That's like, I don't know, a little voice in your head that does keep you to working crazy hours that other people don't want to do, doing a whole bunch of hard work and that gets you to progress that but that most people don't want to do. Yeah, that's that's a cool voice, but I feel like it evolves. And the evolution of that for me was you don't you don't have to be the best. You don't have to be a legend. You're already a legend as long as you try your best. And that seems so like I don't know, some It seems like some you'd see on a fortune cookie, right?

11:08I don't know. I don't mean that in in like a cheesy way, but some things I guess are cliches for a reason. You do have like uh little sayings and phrases that are as old as time for a reason, but it. Um I think that doing the thing is what makes you the best. Like trying your best in that moment makes you the best. And you hear that as a kid, it's like, "Yeah, it. whatever. And it's so easy to look at the scoreboard and assume that that's the game. And the scoreboard in this instance would be all of the different successes. If you want to be the best at a sport, it's getting recognized for that, getting the trophy, being varsity, whatever the it is. If it's at business, you know, making the most money. If it's music, having the most streams. If it's podcasting, getting the most downloads per per podcast. I don't I don't know.

12:04Having the best guests. You can fill in the blank for whatever scoreboard that you want to look at, but I feel like it's really easy to get that scoreboard mixed up with the actual game itself, which is just doing it. And this seems like it seems like it's it's gone a little bit off the rails from what we first started, like our ghost real, and now we're talking about life itself. But this this is what we're talking about, right? Like are ghosts real? Is there life after death? Is there any meaning to what I'm doing now? Or should I you know what, you know, live it as it is. Carpey DM. Live in the moment. Seize the day. Am I supposed to be doing that or am I supposed to be planning? Am I supposed to be religious? Like what? What? What happens? All of these questions. But one of those things that we can quiet all of those existential questions and then just have one focus of like one one smaller but still big I guess question is are ghosts real?

13:12Like so many people say things are haunted. So many people say they've seen things but are they real? It's like, man, this said he saw a ghost. He ain't trying to talk about that He ain't see nothing. I'm getting to it. I'm getting to it. rush me. rush me. It was crazy. I was like 17. A He was 17. What does that mean? Oh my god. a little teenager. It was crazy, man. So, I went through a phase where I was like really into this Me and uh uh my girlfriend at the time is uh was super into like watching Ghost Adventure and looking up a whole bunch of like crazy like that and trying to find real haunted houses.

14:19I don't know how it even became something that came up, but eventually I was just like, "Yo, I think it was me. I'm pretty sure it was my dumb ass." Like I said, I was like 17 and it it really started when I was like 15, 16 when I first started watching the show and again really getting into it like damn like are look at all this Are ghosts real? And it's if you've ever seen something like Ghost Adventures, you never see you feel me? Casper never comes up on the camera like what's up bro like yo I'm here. It's it's like these little things where it's like oh is that a trick of light? Oh are you doing it for likes? This is just feeling fishy. And it's kind of like the whole UFO thing, like is this real? Is there any validity to this? So, I wanted to find out for myself, of course. You know what I mean? I'm the I'm the type of kid where I I hid my tooth underneath the pillow of mine without telling my parents that I lost my tooth just to find the tooth was still there.

15:23The next day. That ain't real. Sometimes you just got to do your own test. Sometimes you just got to figure it out. You got to catch your parent dressed up like Santa Claus giving you some presents. When are you just being manipulated? When are you just being spun in some sort of direction and some sort of nar narrative that can fit on different TV shows and movies? And now you feel it's more than just entertainment. This horror movie might be kind of real. Like somebody actually might be going through this Somebody actually went through this inspired by a true story. So maybe maybe I'm just being spun, right? I I had to I had to find out for myself. And the closest thing when I looked up real haunted houses, the closest thing that I could find, I'mma look it up now, was the rock house.

16:25Yep. And that was in Thompson, Georgia. And I'mma put a picture of this cuz, bro, I'mma put this this Okay. The old rock house built in 1785. This residence is the oldest stone house in Georgia. Bro, look at that Look how creepy it is already. That looks like the the backdrop for a horror movie. You just put your title here. You feel me? Like that. That already looks crazy. It looks creepy. A little known piece of Georgia history. The old rock house was built around 1785 by Thomas Ansley. Ansley was born in New Jersey. Who gives a The house and the cemetery are all the remain of the Writesboro settlement. The land the house was constructed on was given to Ansley after the Revolutionary War. As a Quaker, he did not fight during the war. See, what I heard was it was a slave house.

17:24Okay. The house was occupied until around 1950. Okay. Which has suffered major damages and vandalism since the 1960s. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. Okay. So, I guess it's now protected under uh Oh So, does that mean I mean I didn't vandalize it. I just like went there, but technically like, yeah, I don't try at home. Like, you're not supposed to do it. No before you go. The road is gravel, dirt, bit rough, blah blah blah. I guess you can go. I don't know. Either way, this was the old rock house. You know what? Google. I heard from somebody who heard from somebody who heard from somebody that this was an old slave house, right?

18:21It just made it more creepy in the time. Maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was just this Honestly, I'm not going to bore you with the details of the house cuz does it matter? I don't need to know the story of the ghost. Was the ghost real? Was it real? Did that happen? So, I went to this this rock house a couple times, actually. Um, the first time I went, it was just me and that that girl at the time. We we went up, just the two of us. And I remember we went up to the attic and it was super cre creepy because you can hear footsteps upstairs. Like there's So when you first go in, I guess I got to I got to paint a picture of the house. When you first go in, there's a front door. I know you didn't see that coming. You didn't see that coming, did you? There's a front door right at the beginning. All right, so you go in, there's the front door, and then you can go left or you can go right.

19:19There's like there and there's no door actually. Um I can't remember if the front door was a door and it was like open. But either way once you go in there are no doors. Like everything is just open. But you could see it was like some sort of door frame maybe like you know like a door could go there type Either way you can go right, you can go left or you can go right down. So the door that was right in the middle actually was like some stairs that led like down to the basement. And then there was like some sort of I'm trying to remember exactly. See, I told you it was it was a little minute ago, but either way, there's like some some stairs that you could go up to the attic or whatever. And then you can go right or you can go left and like go around the house. And it was like basically one big circle where you could uh you could go around it like that. We heard footsteps up the little in the attic or whatever. And of course, our dumb asses were like, "Okay, let's go up there."

20:15And we we started going up there and as as we went up there, it's like you could hear like little noises behind. Man, long story short of this was it was creepy. We heard creeps and creeks and and groans and when we were in there, but there was nothing like we're like, "Okay, ah, nothing like that." Okay. I even see I don't I don't feel like looking for the actual source, but I swear there was like even there was even some story of a girl that had like died in the attic. And I remember I started like talking to I told you I watched like Ghost Adventures. So I started talking to this girl that was supposedly dead in the attic and she never talked back. She never said anything to me. Um I just was like saying like you know like some ghost adventure like how did you die? Is your name I can't even remember. I feel like whatever name I put in, I'm just like put filling in the blank.

21:11I don't remember the name. I'm sitting here like I'm sitting here talking to this girl as if she's actually in here. Yeah. Like I said, nothing really happened. We heard some like it sounded like footsteps coming up the thing, but it was an old house, right? You know, just cuz the stone it was stone on the outside. It wasn't stone on the inside. It was wood. So maybe being the skeptical person now like trying to strongarm or steel man the uh the story maybe it was just the house making noises. That's normal, right? Either way, it was scary enough where we I just remember we ran the out of there and then we started taking videos of like outside the the house because in the Ghost Adventure show we you know had heard in here that you would see like little orbs sometimes. It's not always not again like Casper the the friendly ghost popping up on the screen. Sometimes you might see little orbs and like that.

22:09And just a side note, this is where you could really start to get if you are open-minded but aren't necessarily held down to the fact like, oh, everything's a ghost. And I feel like a lot of these people, whether it's the Ghost Adventure or Ancient Aliens, like once they go down these rabbit holes, everything's about ghosts. This is a ghost. It's a ghost. It has to be a ghost, of course, because we're hunting ghosts and ancient aliens, everything's the aliens. You know what I mean? They think it's ghosts, but it's actually aliens. I actually saw one of their episodes where they said that where it's like people were thinking that they're ghosts. We don't believe in ghosts. And then I I just remember they were like shrugging it off like come on ghosts but aliens. You know what I mean? Something where it's like bro come on. So people people can have tunnel vision where they are open-minded to the point where they get down these certain rabbit holes, but then they get blinded by thinking that everything is that.

23:05So somebody might be like, "Okay, these orbs, they this really might be like proof that there's other dimensions or actually it's just, you know, light is just a refraction of blah blah." You know what I mean? Like you start explaining the way of how these orbs could be possible. You know, there's there's lightning balls that happen. It's like, "All right, bro." But I do remember we were we were taking these videos and you see see little uh I wouldn't even call them like lights. And that's why again, if I was strongarmming it, these could be some big moths. Again, it was enough where we were like, "Wow." We were encouraged to be like, "Bro, this something's about it. You just felt it." Like, and then how much of this was just influence? How much of this was just me being a young just, you know, I like the show that I watched that was similar to what I was trying to see out in the real world. And a lot of the things that they would say when they'd come into these haunted houses or haunted hotels or haunted, I don't know, vacant malls or vacant hospitals, they would say just feel it.

24:11Like you could just feel the thickness in the air. Like you could feel it made it made your your actual hair on your arms stand up in the back of your neck. You you feel that You feel the presence while you're walking around. So how much of that is just me not making it up, right? But how much of it is just me wanting to believe it? And that's what can scare you about some of the things or should scare you about some of the things that you can't prove but you want to believe. But it's like damn if you want if you want to believe this How much of this is just you tricking yourself. Your brain can play a whole bunch of tricks on you. You know what I mean?

25:06The whole placebo effect. Your brain is powerful. It runs everything. Everything. everything. So, how much of this is just me wanting to believe this Me wanting to see this sometimes. It happens. Okay, that's dy noted, right? But hindsight is always 2020. At the time, I felt it. I felt the thickness in the air. I did feel like I was not alone. And I'm not talking about the girl I was with. I did feel like there was just something there.

26:05Okay. real enough to be like, "Bro, not so real to be like, hey, definitively, like, I know I've been able to prove this." And we we tried to find some other places. And honestly, every other place that we found was more or less the same. Like, oh, did you did you get did you feel that? The rock house was by far the the creepiest one. The most I felt that. Do you see these? Like maybe this is just a trick like but there is something in this video. You know what I mean? It was enough for me to talk about it with other people. It was enough for me to want to go and do this again. So I ended up going to the Rock House like three times. remember I went with a group of people like the next time and I'm talking about like there was like me, that same girl, her brother, his girl, and maybe like I don't know like four other people.

27:12I don't know. We came with with a good amount of people that next time. Nothing happened even less than like the first time. Like there was there was like nothing like nothing. What the This is antilimactic. Then I remember there was another time I went, the final time I have yet to go back since then. And ladies and gentlemen, this is the story you've been waiting for. I had to set the frame, man. rush me. rush me. If you don't have time for this I'm sorry. It's probably right? It's probably You ain't see no ghost. This didn't see a ghost.

28:08What are you talking about, man? You pulling my leg. You trolling me. You think you're funny. All right. I don't know. I don't know what it was. We call it ghosts. We like to call everything something. Like everything needs a name. It's like I don't I don't know exactly who it was. It might have been Adam and Eve, but somebody had to name these It was just like a frog, grass, tree, and some of them might not even land. So, it might even be like you're just like spitballing.

29:10Fling. That's going to mean something else. And not even right now. We're gonna we're gonna hold on to that one. A fling is going to mean something else in another time frame. For right now, we'll call that. I don't even know, man. God damn. What a job. What a job. What a job. I declare this. Sling. I can't even I keep going with the ings. This the fling sling. I would just have a whole string of string. We might have something string. I would have a whole line of words where it's like how you go through different phases when you're growing up. I would have different phases of naming things.

30:06Like sometimes I'll just be in the ing but everything sometimes I might be like log dog frog you know I don't know sometimes that's just how it goes when you have to name everything. Anyways I feel like I got a little bit off track. ghost. We got to name man. We always got to name So, maybe it wasn't a ghost. Maybe it was just I don't know, one of these other dimensional beings. Maybe it was an alien. An alien. Oh Maybe I made it up. Maybe I'm crazy.

31:02Maybe you're perfectly sane, Johnny. Perfectly sane. Sometimes your eyes just play tricks on you. The rock house, man. This time it wasn't just me and my girl. This time we didn't bring a whole bunch of people. This time I was like, "Hey, you know what I'mma do? I'mma bring my little sister. And nothing against her, of course. She was awesome. She still is. Just probably wasn't the best um big brother thing to do, the most responsible thing to do to be like, "Hey man, this this place that creeped you out." Nothing happened, of course. Whereas like people weren't getting It's not insidious. You feel me?

31:58Either way, going to take a chance. Why bring your little sister? I don't know. And she wasn't chill out, bro. It's not like she was in grade school. She was 13. She was my little sister, but she was old enough and cool enough to kick it. You feel me? So, yeah. me, my girl, my little sister. Hell yeah. And not my girl now. That's my girl at the time. But that's what I'm thinking. 17 years old, thinking that the whole world's in front of me. And I'm about to find out if ghosts are real. Who else better to share it with than family and the girl that you're currently with at the time as a young adult? Who better? Yeah. So, we're going down that dirt road that it was talking about.

32:57That that part is definitely true. It was really bumpy. Once you once you get off onto some certain road, everything is like normal until you get off onto a certain road to get to it. And then that's when it's super uh bumpy. And this time, this is also where this starts to go down. We go down this dirt bumpy road. I'm driving and out of nowhere the radio starts going to that song that don't stop pot that don't stop and it like froze or like got stuck. I don't know if it was the DJ. So again, I'm trying to strong I'm trying to steal man this like bro DJs do that all the time. It happens all the time. Just saying the song, the one song ended and this just turned on and then it just kept saying, "Don't stop.

33:59Don't stop. Don't stop." And it just kept saying, "Fucking don't stop." Over and over to the point where all of us were like, "What the Turn that down." And of course, my first instinct was like, "Oh that's crazy. This is some you see in a movie. Let me continue to drive down this road. Yeah, that makes sense. I don't know, man. I guess I just didn't give a And I was even the person that would watch scary movies and be like, bro, why the are you doing that? It's like, but for me, it's just like, damn, I want to know. What would you do to find out if ghosts were real? What would you do to find out if aliens were real? definitively. if anybody else believes you. everybody.

34:55What would you do for you to know? You can tell whoever you want. They going to believe whatever they want. What would you do for you to know? All of life's different crazy questions like what happens after death? How do you believe the people that died and come back and say this is what happened? Oh, you know, their bodies were just filled with DMT. just like maybe maybe some of the times that's true, maybe some of the times it's not. Maybe all of the times these are actual experiences that people were having like you hear with reincarnation especially like like with Buddhists and like that. I don't know people are will claim to be a previous person. Uh, I'm trying to I'm trying to think of what the name was and I'm I'mma butcher it. So, but either way, you get my point where people say that I'm a reincarnated whatever.

35:54I remember I have a past life. There's actual stories where somebody would be like, "My name was this." You feel me? Like, I grew up here. And then it ends up being true. Like, they actually research the parents are like, "Okay, what the My 5-year-old is saying that, you know what I mean? I was a 30-year-old, whatever the fuck." Yeah. I don't know. Like making up. making up who knows making up this story or saying the story, relaying this story that was a seems like a real experience for them that they're claiming was a real life that they had and then they look it up and it ends up being true. Like what the How do you explain that? How do you explain that? There's always going to be things that we would try to explain even if we can't explain. Great pyramids, like uh some of the uh proof of telepathy being a real thing, like people being able to read other people's minds and like that. There's actual documented, like well doumented, well tested and studied things out there like that, literally like that.

36:54And for the most part, people be like telepathy. It's like, yeah, but it's real. It's like even if you see that um, like even if you end up coming across something like the telepathy tapes, you end up sometimes with a person that's like, "Oh, yeah, but still." I I choose not to believe that. I choose to think that there's some rational way to explain this and it's not it's not telepathy but this is all wrapped up again in the fact that we are obsessed with names. Ghosts aren't real. Oh, but it's aliens. Aliens aren't real. The ghosts, you know what I mean? Always always shifting it. You know what I mean? Oh, you believe in God? There is no God, but there's the universe. It's like okay like you tomato tomato at some point.

37:53You want to believe some things and not the other. And some of the times it's just because there's a name associated with it. But all I know is going down that dirt road with that song and we ended up turning it off. She was she was creepy. And it wasn't one of those like I turned off the radio and it popped back on and she's like, "Oh my god." And that was it. That was it. It was to the point where we were sitting there for a minute. So again, maybe it was some excessively long DJ cut and the DJ was like new to the game and he really didn't care about his listeners and just wanted to have it say don't stop like for so like for like 30 seconds. And I want you to actually like count one Mississippi, two Mississippi, 30 seconds and just imagine. Don't stop. How that don't stop. But that don't stop. Maybe maybe or maybe like you go down this dirt road and your satellite starts to get up and for some reason it just like glitched at that very moment in that type of way.

38:58Maybe I don't know. You going to believe what you going to believe. People are going to have experiences that other people I I feel like they're not meant to have. And it's up to those like it's up to you when this something like this happens whether you want to share it or not. Some people they go all out like I have to tell the universe. Me just like bro I'm going to talk about this You can think whatever the you want about me but I'mma talk about this maybe I'll have like dementia or some and I won't ever be able to recall this again. And then you get down the whole weird rabbit hole of memories where it's like the memories aren't even real. Memory like the memory you have is just you remembering the last time you remembered it.

39:53You know what I'm saying? You experience it and then the next time you think about it, that's your memory of it. And then the next time you think about it again, you're just remembering the last time you remembered it. And then it's kind of like it's kind of like having food coloring in your water and then you slowly just keep adding more water to it every time you remember it. It's it's going to get more diluted. It's just natural. You feel me? So like being aware of all of those things too, it's like it. I say why not, you know? So, back to the tails of the rock house. We go down this We get to the house and I told you how there was a front door and then there's a basement. I never had gone down to the basement before.

40:48I had made it up to the attic and I'd gone around the actual house. Again, it just kind of like it like loops around itself where you first go in. You can either go down in the basement or you can go into the left or right door. And then obviously you can walk around outside the actual stone house. And then there are stairs in the back way that get you down into the basement from there. So the basement really has two different ways you can get down to it. And then again, there's no doors. Everything is just open. So you can kind of see down in the basement. It's dark. It's kind of lit up by moonlight. And that's and that's by it. It's not like super lit up for the most part. The basement looks dark. Okay, this time instead of going up in the front, we decided to go around in the the back. And actually, no, tripping. I think we actually did walk up to the front first where we just looked around and then somehow we ended up going out back.

41:47We're like, "No, that." We go around in the back and we said, "Okay, let's go down into the basement." Okay. My memory is fuzzy about who's leading what. Does that really even matter? I don't know. I just remember I go down in there and I had seen like the different Ghost Adventure shows. Like, you know, sometimes you got to you got to disturb some to to to get something to pop up. I don't I don't know, man. It was on TV. It was on TV. What was I supposed to believe? So there's like like I don't know like boards or some some like pieces of wood or some So I was just like moving to the point where like as I was moving you see like dust coming up and I'm just like if you want me to stop like you know what I'm saying like make an appearance or some like that. Like I'm I literally was probably copying verbatim what I heard on Ghost Adventures and I no longer watch the show. So I uh and it's no shout out to them or maybe you, Zach.

42:47Maybe maybe now I no longer watch the show, so I don't know exactly what they'd be saying, but I'm almost positive that um I was saying verbatim the same that they would have said or like that I had seen. I was just emulating that You know, I wanted to see the same type of things. What better to do than to copy the quote unquote professionals? And again, that's not to say that they're not professional um by putting the quotes. Maybe it is. you, Zach. I'm just kidding. No, I am Zach getting me out of my groove. I was telling this story about how I was eloquently copying what I had seen on TV.

43:48The exact thing that you see in a lot of TV shows that they say, "Don't try this at home. A was trying this at home." And yeah, I just remember my sister and um that girl was in the background and it was one of those where I was basically doing all of that I had done I had um I had lifted the the like plank board or some and it came back down. You see like a couple dust and like there was like pieces of wood again. I'm like hitting it around saying some Nothing was really happening, right? It's still kind of like a nothing burger like it was the past couple times. Creepy, but nothing's happening. And again, from what I know, like I had heard that like you'll get in trouble. Like 12 will show up if you're here. Like there's like trespassers and Like you can't just be on this property or whatever.

44:45Like get the out of here type of deal. Um, and I'm guessing now that we looked it up, it's because people would vandalize it and I didn't see any vandalism, but apparently since the 1970s, the was a historic landmark or whatever, so they might come in and clean it up after. Whatever, man. I don't know. I just ate another nothing burger here. Nothing's really happening. And I'm like, all right. You know, nothing's cool in the basement. I look up. There's those stairs that lead up to the front. I says you could either go when you first come in the the house, you can either go down the stairs when you and go straight and go down the stairs to get to the basement or you could walk around the house and come up the back. I'm looking up these stairs into the house.

45:42And then because that door is open and then the actual front door, again, I can't remember if the door is like propped open or there's just like no door. Either way, you just see it open. That's that happened to be where the moon was shining the most from. Um, and you just see the light from outside coming through cuz they're exactly they're exactly across from each other, the front door and then the basement door that you know leads to the stairs or whatever. Bro, I look up and I see this black figure and it's like right above your knees type up. So, I don't see the whole entire frame of it and you just see the arms are out to the side and you don't you don't see any hair. It's it was just a black figure. Um, like there's literally nothing I would say if I had to like really try to think about it, I would say more masculine than feminine just because it was kind of like a bulky shadowy figure.

46:49And I saw this and my first thought is, holy we're so Like, we're we're we're going to get in trouble. we're gonna get hopefully not arrested. Um like my my my people are gonna find out like we're And this is like all in that split second. And you know, I don't know maybe you had I don't know how your your childhood was, but you know when you know you in trouble, you'd be like a kid growing up and you knew you'd be in trouble. You knew you was about to get your ass whooped and ass whooping was coming and you know it. You know that feeling that you get inside like where like your heart starts beating different and it's like you get a little bit hot like you just got caught like in the middle like freeze type of like you got caught.

47:44I don't know. That's the same feeling that I would feel growing up thinking I might get an ass whooping. So maybe other people feel that same way. But that feeling is what I felt in that moment like I'm I'm I was 17, still in high school, you know what I mean? It wasn't like past my curfew or whatever, but it's just like I don't know. You get in trouble with anything with like the law, like that's, you know what I'm saying? Like you're in trouble. Like what are you doing? No, you're not supposed to be doing that. It's not like I was like, "Hey guys, I'm going off to Thompson, Georgia to possibly go to a haunted house and I'm bringing my little sister." You know what I'm saying? It was like uh it's like we're just going out. We going going to go chill. Yeah, man. I thought I was in trouble and it was like for a long I would say like one Mississippi to Mississippi like for about that long.

48:44I don't know 2.135 seconds. I don't know. Offgood it was about that long where I'm just like looking up and it just like dawns on me. This is 12. Where is the flashlight? Why haven't they said anything? Why haven't they moved? What's And again, this is all like super fast. I would say the span of me being inside the basement and me being outside after seeing that was like a solid 4 seconds and I got the out of there. Because then it was like another two seconds I would say where I just kind of like my brain was just like, "Oh you called You've been looking for me.

49:39No. No. This is the wrong number. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. So, it really just started to dawn on me that this is not law enforcement. This isn't some like homeless person or anything like that. This was some like weird you can't even really see like what they're wearing or it's like it's some shadowy dark figure, but you can see enough where you see like arms out to the side, but weird, but like like not like like Superman or some like that. Not like it's in their pockets just chilling or anything like that, but just like off to the side. That's just weird. That's just weird. And then you're just sitting there. You're just Okay. It took me those next couple seconds to be like, "Oh shit." And kind of figuring out I would say what's going on, but again, like I don't I still to this day, what the was that?

50:40What was it? Was it a ghost? I need I need the name guy to get down here and start naming some Tell me what this name what this is. What what what's its name? Is it a ghost? Is it an alien? Is it a interdimensional being? Is time even real? Is it one of those things where the past is happening right now just like the future and everything is happen happening simultaneously but only we perceive it as a differentiation of time. So really what I was seeing was just somebody back when the rock house was a thriving place where people lived and were happy or was it a slave house where people were miserable and haunted even before they were dead. I don't know. We like to put names on it.

51:35But instead of trying to ask questions or figure out anything else, um I realized that I'm not the Ghost Adventures crew. I uh I am half white. Um but apparently I am not white enough for that. You need more than 50%. 50% got me there. 50% had me come back when I wasn't brought enough evidence of these But then there was a certain hell no in me that just wasn't having it. Once I saw this right here. What's it gonna do? I I love scary movies.

52:32I've seen this What the are you going to do? I'm not finding out. I'm not finding out. And I'm not putting my back to you. So what do I do? I start slowly backing up. And then my responsible big brotherness is going to come in once again. You'll see this because as I slowly back up, not taking my eye off of this of course, I've alerted the girls and my sister's just like, "What's happening? What's going on? What's wrong?" She's asking questions. To be honest, I don't even know exactly what she asked or what she said. I'm assuming there were questions like that cuz it just sounded like background noise. And I just remember saying, "Run."

53:28And I turned around and I ran. I told her to run. Okay? I told both of them to run. It was a clear directive. We're faster as a unit if we each use our own two legs and go as fast as we can. And somebody naturally is going to be first and faster. And that should be aspirational to keep up with that. That's that's what I'm thinking, right? That was scary, bro. I told him to run. I told them to run. Um, and they were and and also in my defense, they were literally right by the door. Like I was the one that was in that Oh, so what are you saying?

54:26That you're the only one who saw it? Yes, I'm the only one who saw it. Come on. So, you're saying it was already dark, so you couldn't really even see? Yes, It was already dark, but I was in the dark. Everything in there was dark and it was being cast on by the light. So, in the moonlight, I'm literally seeing the the shadow, the silhouette of a figure just standing there. That was crazy, man. Like, that was crazy. It It honestly was.

55:21So yeah, I I dipped off, man. I took off and they they were right behind me. Of course, everything was fine. I think we stayed to try to get some more videos of the orbs, to be honest. I know that goes like 50%. But I wanted to show my sister, man. Like, bro, look. Like, I'm telling you, you going to see. You're gonna see you're just like, "What the happened?" You just run. You run off with me out of instinct. What the happened is after? What's wrong? And you got to explain this They believed me though because uh I think they personally saw how much I really wanted to see this like how like I really I just wanted proof, man.

56:23I just wanted to I wanted to experience it. So for me to just get the out of there like that and I had been there before, you know what I'm saying? Like I went up in the attic. All the all the light that there was down there in the basement with the the moonlight wasn't a lot. Granted, you know, we still have our phones out trying to get the light like that, too. But it wasn't like the attic attic had really like no light, basically. Just us. I don't know. I try to I try to steal man myself. Cuz the last thing you want to be is a fool. The last thing. And There's actually one more experience that's kind of spooky. I'm going have to go faster on this one. Obviously, I'm got to go. But this one was that same girl.

57:21Shocker. We decided to keep looking into this And one weekend, my parents decided um they were going camping. And uh yeah, this was this was over at my mom's house. Uh cuz I would go back and forth between my dad and my mom's house. So my mom, they all went to this camping trip and she was just like, "Yeah, you can stay at the house. My pot's probably a little you can go to your mom's house or some like that. I don't know. Maybe." But either way, she was like, "Yeah, get the house to yourself for the weekend." No, I didn't throw a party. I know that's what you're thinking. I didn't throw a party, but I did invite that same girlfriend at the time over and we going to mother you going to spend the night. You going to stay the night like a adult. We going to be grownups today. 17. I look a little bit like 18 right now, huh?

58:17Look like an adult. We going to spend the night. We going to wake up to each other. It's not romantic. Of course, I wanted to seize the day. Scarp ADM, right? And we was chilling. We were I I don't even remember. Again, the details don't matter too much as as far as all that goes. Let's just get down to the juicy details that you really care about. Are ghosts real? Are ghosts real? What is this And this one isn't a ghost story necessarily. This one is kind of a ghost story, maybe. I don't know. but more like a possession story. Whoa. Yeah, this gets possessed, bro. I think. What do we know? I don't know. We put a name on it, right? We put a name on it. Um but yeah, got spooky, man. got spooky. We decided uh to to do an Ouija board.

59:15Um yeah, that was not the smartest idea, but uh that's what we decided to do. So, we had to look up the proper way to do it. Turns out you can't just do it willy-nilly. You want to turn off all the lights. And it also I remember it said something like, again, this is like back when you would like look for articles and like that when you Google And it said something like um it said something like you couldn't smoke or drink uh because uh that would interfere with the the spirit's ability to connect with you or some some like that. I like all right whatever. And it said you got to turn off all the lights. You got to be knee to knee. You got to have a candle lit. And it was so we we followed all the instructions exactly how it was. We didn't have no fancy board. But we ended up making it out of like cardboard or some like that. Either way, we got this Ouija board is all set up.

1:00:12It's dark. It's late. Everything since we decided to do this this girl, she was wigging out. Wouldn't let anything happen while she was alone. I couldn't take a piss. And I'm not sitting here knocking her, man. She was just scared. I couldn't take a piss. She had to come in the bathroom with me. Anytime I would leave the room, she'd have to come with me. Don't leave me alone. Like this is creepy now. We we stepped into the creepy territory cuz we're about to do this Ouija board. All right. That's fine. You know what I mean? Don't worry. I'm a man now. I have girls that stay the night like a grown-up. So, of course, I'll protect you. Of course, I I was all cool with that. We do this Ouija board, man. have all the lights out and we're sitting there in the living room. I have my back to the open space. She has her back to the wall.

1:01:12As we sit here and ask the different questions that we've seen and like, you know what I mean, like TV shows, whatever. All the typical questions you would ask, we get nothing cuz neither of us were like on that where it's like, "Are you doing this?" No, I'm not. And they're just like, "Fuck, no." Neither we want to know, man. We ain't about to do that This did not move. Didn't move a me and her just looking at each other. This still not moving. Asking all these questions. This is still not moving. Okay, maybe this is fake. I end up seeing some sort of like wave on the candle. And after the wave on the candle, I see on the wall like a shadow kind of look like it's moving. You know when your shadows cast on the wall, like when it's dark and a little bit of light and it just cast your shadow on the wall.

1:02:10It looked like not a a per you didn't see a person. You didn't see like a head and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes. You didn't see any of that. It was just like a like a lump almost. And you just see it kind of go across and like fade out. What the And then I just felt like something was watching me in like the room that way. And then I was just like, "Do you feel like somebody's watching you right now?" Like something cuz she started I'm looking at her. She's waking out too. And that's why I was like a lot of this is like I was like, "What? You just went I'm" It was just like It's so hard to explain. It just got weird for a second. Like we're sitting here asking it questions. For some reason, both of us just kind of like drifted off into space for a second and then that was me kind of like, "Do you feel like somebody's watching you?" It's me bringing it back like awareness and she said, "Yeah."

1:03:05And pointed over at that same direction that I felt it. It was like oh no. And we we left. We got the out of that house. Decided to bring the Ouija board. We just didn't like how big it was. Oh, you thought I said I meant like I we were done. Like, oh, that's enough, man. No, we just didn't like the space we were in. Maybe I thought if we just go to the car, then it'll be dark still. Still even bring the candle and nothing will happen. So, as we go out, we close the door. And right when the door closes. I shouldn't have done that.

1:04:03Whoa. Think I just something up. I'm so sorry. Shouldn't have actually hit the table. There's a microphone there, We're keeping it. We're going to cut this, right? Yeah, we can cut it. Um, so there was a bang at the door. Sorry to burst the bubble of the moment, but yeah, there was there was this loud bang right when we closed the door. Like just went and we p whip around. We turn and we look at it. And then this was one of those doors where you had those small like those vertical window panes right next to it. And then the little blind things they had it. They start moving side by side like a pendulum and then it stops and it slows down and goes down like that.

1:05:04I know. I I know, man. At least I had that other person this time. So I wasn't like maybe my mind's playing tricks on me. Well then we we playing the same trick on our minds in I got a witness. I felt better cuz this was after all that happened. Y'all know it kept going. So we saw that and said, "Hell no." Bolted to the car. Our dumb asses again still continue to try to do the Ouija game and we got nothing. Still nothing. It's like what? Some Even though we just saw that we some Long story short, we stopped playing the Ouija game. Even though we had read that you have to end the game, we didn't do that. And we just stopped and we went inside because we still had the whole night, right?

1:06:05Um, we got to do this like grown-ups. And as we go in, there was stairs here and at the top there's like a balcony or not a balcony, it's just like where you can kind of like look over the railing or some And the dog, my mom's dog came up and like obviously knows me, knows her, like we were in there chilling. Comes up, sees that it's us. Like at first was like, "Oh, oh." Sees it's us. Literally soon as as soon as that happens was good and then out of nowhere just starts growling and backs up into the dark. It's like what the Okay, weird. And this is where we go to the couch. We end up just passing out. Everything is honestly like we put on that ghost internship. We're good. Uh we fall asleep where like I'm laying to the side like we're we're spooning whatever. I was the big spoon.

1:07:01She was the small spoon. We sitting on the couch, right? I wake up a couple hours later and she's standing over me, bro. What's wrong? You good? She proceeds to go over to the other little small couch, the love seat, whatever it's called. And then she starts cursing like some sort of like old you you son of a I don't I don't even I couldn't even like recreate it. It was like weird cussing. Like, you know what I mean? And like you You know what I'm saying? Like just started like weird. Like I can't even explain it. Godamn. That's what's frustrating about a lot of these type of stories. But I still was just, you know, I just woke up.

1:07:57Me and that girl was never going to work out. We we had kind of a toxic relationship, you feel me? Um where we would argue and everything. Um so I thought she was just being like being an to be honest. Um so you jerk. I'm not dealing with this I said something like, "Man, whatever." I brush it off. This girl proceeds to put like a blanket over her and then walks up the stairs in the dark without turning on a light. The same girl that wouldn't let me piss earlier. And then it just clicked for me. I was like, "What the fuck?" It's the first click. There was a few clicks. I'm gonna be real where I should have been a little bit smarter, swifter.

1:08:56Goddamn. It wouldn't happen to me. They say it's still kind of like, man, whatever. It's weird. You know what I mean? But I peeped that that she just went up there like, "Fuck." So, he was just playing scared. Just feeding into what? My ego. I don't need that. I don't need to feel like a strong man. the So, I go upstairs and this was back when uh I smoke those nasty cancer sticks that thankfully I do not smoke anymore. I was like, you know, whatever. About to go out go outside, smoke a cigarette. That's what men do if you want to come. Little passive aggressive invite in there. She comes out there with me again. She was just sitting on the on the bed, by the way.

1:09:52When I go in there in the dark, just sitting there like this. I don't know, man. People were weird. You feel me? Again, I honestly, for the most part, I still thought she was just being like a Like, to be real. We go down and we started smoking our cigarettes. This is back when it was still starting to get cold. So, we had our jackets on and everything like that. We sat across from each other and then we would do this thing where we would kind of put our legs up on each other's like use each other's chair as a leg rest. So, we did that. Still kind of stoing being quiet. Take my hits. pass it over cuz we're sharing this She takes her head to the cigarette. And she starts I don't I don't feel like myself right now.

1:11:00What are you talking about? Like it's like I'm here but I'm not here. the Still just kind of like looking at her. All right, whatever. She talking about cuz for the most part, I thought everything was good. Like I said, we were laying down with each other. And we didn't call it laying down. We didn't call it snuggling. We actually used to make fun of snuggling. The word. Who says that? Snuggle. Let's snuggle. We can cuddle. I don't know. I guess you can snuggle. You can say it a little. It's But it just feels more like a snuggle. Let's snuggle. Snuggle. Just felt weird. I just remember we would make fun of that But yeah, we was all good laying down. Everything was good. Now you acting like this.

1:11:59So she just does that. Goes to pass me back the cigarette. And then I just see her. Let's go upstairs and snuggle. what you want? And she proceeds to go to the door to go back inside. And I like put the cigarette out. I get up behind her and it just dawned on me, you have to end the game. And so I asked say, "Hey, maybe maybe we should end the that Ouija game." She brought it up. This girl stops right where she's at the door. Put her head like that. That's the only way she acknowledges me. No. Wasn't that deep. No, it was like that deep for a deep for a girl.

1:12:58Especially like I knew her. No. No. I can't even. The first time what I just did where I said it was that that was probably the most dead on I could get. I'm not a imitation artist or whatever they're called. Bro, when you talk about chills up your your spine, my hair like immediately I felt like my hair like stand up. That was one where it's like, bro, immediately cuz then she proceeds to go inside and walks all the way upstairs, no light, by herself. Couldn't take a piss, bro. Snuggle. Snuggle. Out of all the words, out of all the words she uses, the one that we make fun of that we literally never use. What the And I'm running out of time. So, goddamn. I go upstairs cuz yes, I still went upstairs. I told you 50%, bro. And I loved her.

1:13:53She's my girlfriend. I said, "Oh, man." Like I wasn't just going to be like, "All right, well, this house. It's still my house. Goddamn. It's my people's house." You know what I mean? So what am I going to do? Sleep downstairs on the couch? Cuz she said snuggle. And I went upstairs, bro. And she's already laying down in the bed. When I lay down, she lays towards me. Instead of doing the spooning thing like we always do, she leans towards me and like has her hand like arm underneath my head and her like leg wrapped around where it's like a pretzel where she's like contorted around me and she's like holding me but like while we're facing each other and I just remember I was just like and then I just see that same look in her eyes when she goes this is about probably like five five long minutes where I'm just like how the did I get here? I'm like thinking about life for real at this moment. And then she goes, sees our position, turns around and pulls me how we usually cuddle.

1:15:01Cuddle, mind you, not snuggle. Next day wakes up, didn't remember that Remembered us going to the different areas and I told her everything and she's like, "What the fuck?" So I test her. I was like, "Hey, maybe we should end that Ouija game." She was like, "Fuck yeah." I was like, "Okay, thank God, bro." Yeah, man. I don't know what you want to call them songs out there. It's just it's just weird.
